hummmm.... 3.5
wow unlike 50 shades of gray (how the hell that ended up being published still baffles me, even worse a movie) iT ACTUALLY had a decent plot besides sex sex sex. i dont understand the whole domination/submissive lifestyle and it bugged me that they kept saying morgan was "wired" for it. i'm sorry that made me feel like she was a thing not a person, worse off because she was the submissive.

A good start for this series since I'm now curious about Deke.
But seriously, someone give men brains and some compassion: you plan a revenge centered on seducing a woman never bothering to think if said revenge will hurt the woman. And then of course you get burned by your idiotic plan.
Also I didn't really like how Jack pushed Morgan in accepting her sexuality: it was too much too soon, too fast and merciless. I would have run the other way so fast that I would leave marks on the ground...

I liked this novel but I thought that the female character for me was not what I wanted her to be at all. Jack was a bit overbearing although I did find him charming in his own way. It was an entertaining read at least.
Trigger warnings for graphic sex and stalking
This books was good, better than expected. It definitely surprised me.
Shayla Black has a writing style that leaves you with the desire of know more, which make passing of the book be really fast, and she KNOWS sex scene it a way that doesn't feel repetitive.
It doesn't get 5 star from me because the whole "I love you but I can't be with you" trope tired me a little. Also the book had a few scenes of "non-consensual" sex (I don't really know if we can call it that because of the whole D/s thing but it made me kinda uncomfortable). The whole stalker plot had me really invest but the conclusion to that whole thing disappoint me a little.
It is a good book, i would recommend it even though it has some problems.

This was my first book in the erotica Genre, and probably my last. I wanted to give it a try because I was over 18. Also, readers in this genre read the most. Crazy right?! I wanted to know what all the talk was about. I did my research it was the only erotica Emily may have given 5 stars. So I read it and I did not enjoy it what so EVER! It was odd because you know its erotica and I feel like that should be the compelling parts of the book. But for me maybe because I am younger than the couple mentioned. The sex parts seemed out of place and I found the whole stalker plotline much more entertaining. I wish it was its own book. A small thing that urked me was "The dom"'s name: Jack. It made it feel like a much older man, so I did not find me attractive or appealing ever. Also another thing, personally I do not like when cheating is mentioned in books I don't know why it just really affects me. So for the main character to be engaged to another man and the cheat on him. Made me really mad, and I definitely did not want to cheer this couple on. Another thing, this couple then has a three-way/ menage a toi was with Jack's best Friend. and I. JUST.DID.NOT.UNDERSTAND. The writing and the stalker plotline is was kept it at 2 stars for me. But the further away I am for this book, even though it made me really mad, I do not see a new reason to move it down to 1 stars. So I am leaving it at two stars.

Ok, but overwhelmingly smutty. Like porn with barely any plot. I enjoyed what I saw of the chemistry/story potential at the very beginning of the story, but then it just degenerated into sex scene after sex scene. That can be hot, no doubt, but after a while, it's just becomes like white noise, so much so that I started to skim the sex bits about halfway through until the end. I probably wouldn't continue with the series unless someone lent it to me for free.
Why did I wait to read Shayla Black? Really enjoyed this.
"Hot, hot, hot!" - Ruby Rod
The romance is super-fast and I know some people don't like that to happen in days. It was fine for me. I was actually surprised by the bad guy, which hasn't happened in more novels than I can recall. If you like hot sex and light suspense, this is the book for you.
