This was really good! I really didn’t know anything about this so I’m glad I got to know more. She is such a strong woman with a strong family. It was also interesting to hear about the different culture shocks they went through.

I remember thinking: How dare the sun rise, as if it were any other day, after such a gruesome night.

Since I have been constantly going from bus to bus, subway to subway to commute for my new job, I've been having a growing interest on audiobooks. I picked this one out of curiosity, as it had been sitting on my TBR for a while, and I noticed it was narrated by Sandra herself.

That was a great decision. While this book would have been an informative, inspiring journey by itself, having the author narrate her life to me in her own voice made everything much better. I felt like she was sitting by my side, telling me how the long years of her life went, how strong she had been, and how strong she wanted other women to be.

I admire Sarah and her family deeply for standing strong and proud after the horrors of the war they went through. I know this book was her way to find her voice, to reach others, and I was deeply touched.
