I have a lot of weird feelings about this book. On one hand, Eva's prose is undeniably beautiful (haunting even). On the other hand, this retelling kind of fell flat for me. I loved reading it, but I feel like the story could use some improvement. I'm all here for the macabre and the horror, but sometimes it just felt like a scare tactic, versus an actual function for the story. I probably wouldn't read it again and I might recommend it to like two of my friends.

loved this to pieces!! The perfect read to get into the halloween spirit. Perfectly greusome without being overly scary. The story telling was amazing and the narrator Stina Neilsen did such a fantastic job. I have found 2 new favorites

An intense tale of trauma in dark fairy tale mode, with every trigger warning under the sun and maybe, just maybe, actually too crass. But it did move me at parts.

Literally ALL the trigger warnings! Not a story for the faint of heart but that warning speaks so highly of the writing! Not usually a horror/dark fairytale gal but the way the author tells this story is immersive and captivating
