I did not love this book, it really wasn’t for me. To start, I found the beginning to be terribly boring and I did not feel a connection to the characters. There are multiple mentions of Nora’s mental health struggles and thoughts of suicide, however I do not feel these were handled well and the mentions of suicide were very flippant and there wasn’t any true resolution.
I did enjoy the reality of Nora’s financial struggles and the decision she made in which to deal with them (very realistic scenario in which I could see someone making the same decision in real life.) I also enjoyed Nina trying to figure out her career path and this path being portrayed as not easy, because it isn’t!!!! I did find it very interesting to see a flip side of publishing as opposed to the glamorous side we see (or want to see) and how working in publishing can affect an avid reader!
I urge you to come to a conclusion of your own about this book and would love to hear your thoughts!
Thank you to Shauna Robinson, Sourcebooks Landmark and Netgalley for a gifted copy in exchange for an honest review!
