A very interesting read, and certainly very progressive for its time. Perhaps due to the format of the book, the reading was very dry at times. Still, it was a fun read, and very interesting.

I WOULD GIVE IT NEGATIVE POINTS IF I COULD. it was such a bad book. jesus. it made me really angry, i thought about dropping it almost all the way through and i wish i did. it didn't make me angry in a "provocative, makes you face things you can't handle, wow so thought-provoking" way but more in a "CAN THESE STUPID MEN ACTUALLY JUMP OFF THE NEAREST CLIFF PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF FUCKING GOD" way. 
 Terry is the. stupidest. thing. ever. i didn't know such sexism even existed. not only is he deeply sexist and misogynistic, he's also a fucking sexual assault unit. and as if that isn't enough, our narrator constantly minimizes and sympathizes his behaviours and the things he says. Terry ATTEMPTS TO RAPE HIS WIFE and Van's reaction is to pity and sympathize with him. HUH?? HOW?? HOW LIKE ACTUALLY HOW?! 
i don't even want to write any more but trust me there's more. such wasted potential.
