Short fiction about a diplomatic incident involving Harry Wilson. Really, really funny, but would probably only make sense if you've read at least Old Man's War.

I absolutely love the Old Man's War universe. I can keep reading and reading non-stop.

A short story featuring Harry Wilson, one of the original members of the "Old Farts", in which he is asked to fight a member of the korban race in an attempt to save a diplomatic mission. An invitation for the next book.

I've read other things by John Scalzi and while they were enjoyable, I couldn't understand why people loved his fiction so much. (His blog is a different thing entirely. I totally get why people love it.) With this story, I begin to understand. The dialogue was the best part, but everything about this story was great. I loved the surprise towards the end of the fight, and how the main character dealt with it.

This story stands alone really well, though I'm sure I would've understood more about the underlying situation if I was more familiar with the setting.

This is a fun short story that takes place in the [b:Old Man's War|51964|Old Man's War (Old Man's War, #1)|John Scalzi|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1402867788s/51964.jpg|50700] universe featuring Harry Wilson. It’s short, kind of silly, a little bit of fun, and completely unnecessary.

Audiobook narrator [a:Luke Daniels|2978188|Luke Daniels|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1331514576p2/2978188.jpg] rating: 5 stars
Having Luke narrate this is definitely a plus. I like the narrators of the Old Man’s War series but I love Luke Daniels. Though, it’s just a little different with Harry’s voice versus other narrators doing Harry’s voice.

A fun little short story in the Old Man's War universe. I thought the Korba physiology was very interesting.

"After the Coup" is a quick fun read. It stars Lt Harry Wilson. He is forced to take part in a gladiatorial match to save a diplomatic mission. There wasn't much new here except for a new species of alien. Scalzi's writing is energetic as ever and the gladiatorial scenes are fun to read. I did not like the ending much though since no one got their comeuppance.

Entertaining short story about a diplomatic mission that turns into hand to hand combat. Old Man War's universe (in fact, the main character is, IIRC, a supporting character in Old Man's War).
