This book has changed my life truly. The truths that JDL has put on these pages have helped me realize how focused I’ve been on my own progress and productivity, instead of just living and enjoying life to the full right where I am. I highly recommend this book to anyone who feels that they have a hurried heart and crave sweet rest for their souls.

To be honest, when I started this book, I wasn’t sure if I could get into the premise of learning about farming, being a city/suburban girl myself. However, I so enjoy Jennifer Dukes Lee’s blog and Instagram posts, I wanted to give it a try.

From the first few words of the introduction, I was hooked. I knew this book came to me at just the right time. I understand that “in the scramble to grow a purposeful life, we accidentally forfeit too much” and I can learn to have “a settledness with what we already have, a sense of peace with what already is, and a connectedness with the people right here with us.”

This book is a breath of fresh air and gives us “permission to take a beat and to take a breath; grace to try again; courage to walk and space to live in the astonishing and wild love of Christ.”

Jennifer masterfully weaves real-life stories with the seasons of farming on her 5th generation family farm and then beautifully brings out how we sow seeds in our own life and in the lives of those we encounter each day. A must-read for our times and a companion Bible study is also available.

Wow, this book challenged and encouraged me to enjoy the stillness and slowness of life. Sanctification is not a sprint but a marathon moving inch by inch. I pray I incorporate the lesson of growing slow in my life.

Each night I crawled into bed with this book and savored a chapter or even a few pages. I loved the feeling her words gave to me, the permission to flow with the rhythms of the seasons. I even found myself looking forward to winter as I neared the end of the book. Now that’s a miracle! I loved this book so much. If you desire to keep life simple, enjoy and celebrate life, or make a change, this maybe perfect for you.
