A very cool idea well executed. Tchaikovsky knows how to deliver a story, both in a science fiction world and a fantasy one. But here he mixes them up with incredible results. Told in 2 different points of view, from the princess that wants to save her kingdom and goes to ask for help to a magician, to the magician who is nothing else but an antropologist studying their society while having other equipment ant technology. It's amazing how they interpret each other according to their expectations. It is a very short book, around 156 pages but it delivers a round story.

Neat short book! I really like the concept of language differences such that the scientist can’t explain himself without simply being transparently taken as an obvious wizard.

The character development was a bit light and I found the DCS an interesting idea, but written without obvious deep understanding of emotions and depression.
