I barely made it through this book. It was part of a challenge so I clearly couldn’t DNF, but I definitely wanted to! Yeah the book is over 30 years old but I do not know how it’s a series… the main character is awful. And there’s a huge difference between watching a crime show and reading intense descriptions of SA and murder. I would not recommended this book at all.

I like John Sandford and this book was decent, but you can definitely tell that this is his first novel. While the other Sandford books I've read have some gruesome stuff in them, the violence in those books actually does something to serve the story. Here, that is not the case at all. If you want to get into this author's work, this is not the best starting point. He can write way better than this.
