I actually enjoyed this book so much. There were many things that I saw coming but one I didnt and that was the end.
It's been a day since I finished reading it and I haven't stopped thinking about it so, had to get the others. I don't know what to say without spoiling so...
I gave it a 4.5 rating but it might change.

If you plan on reading this, you should definitely look for a list of Trigger Warnings. It's really important.

This book is so amazing and if i could give more than 5 stars I would. The actual plot is pretty slow and there’s a lot of build up to the conflict but I think I it was necessary to address the characters, their trauma, and flaws before moving on to the action problems they have to deal with. My favorite this is how real and relatable the characters are and their emotions. No one is perfect and they don’t claim to be. They admit to their flaws and don’t move past major things as if they hadn’t happened.

the banter between poppy and Hawke was EVERYTHING!! loved that!!
I had a feeling something was up with hawke from pretty early on so the twist wasnt that shocking to me but it was still fine. the whole vampire werewolf thing is not really for me but it was fine. think im gonna read the others as well

Fear and bravery are often one and the same. It either makes you a warrior or a coward. The only difference is the person it resides inside.

I'm so torn about this one. The first third was utterly confusing and frustrating, the middle third much more interesting, and the last third action-packed and engrossing. I enjoyed Poppy as a narrator, and liked figuring things out along with her - except when it was easy to figure out twists she was blind to.
HIS. GODDAMN. TEETH. COME ON.
There were a lot of things that bugged me about it though, including the incredibly cheesy lines (ughhhhh so cheesy), the lazy world building (Atlantians???), and how quickly Poppy got over her grief in every situation. But I am definitely going to pick up the next book - mainly because I got it free, let's be honest - and I can say that I have enjoyed a vampire book. So there.

Read with the Intertextuals Book Club :)
