Didn’t hate this though, plot twist was clear from basically the beginning of the book, but was still fun to see it unleash. Poppy’s reactions following the reveal were bizarre though, I don’t think I would have acted the same way (although luckily I’ll never have to find out). Yeah I’d read the next one, phuckit.

Poppy is a great main character and narrator, I loved the way she interacts with most characters. She's one of those strong, stubborn and relatable heroines. I appreciated the fact that she often questioned what was right and what was wrong. Absolutely loved her rebellious attitude and her violent/feral side. The romance was great too (I won't expand on this part as I don't want to spoil). Another thing I loved was the folklore and the mythology (they're constantly talking about gods, surely we can use that word?) of the story.
On the downside, I do have to say that the worldbuilding was tedious for the most part. The author dumps information on the reader in the form of very long paragraphs that, sometimes, interrupt the action or conversations. I will also say that the book was rather long, which doesn't bother me as I love a good fat book, but this one was full of repetitions and passages that could've easily been shorter. Good editing (should!) could have made the book less dense.
