hmm, well that was not expected and not appreciated. i was under the impression that this was a ya book and was quite shocked by the graphicness. this is why i need to remember to read content warnings.

I found this book to be very predictable, but I still couldn't put it down, and I enjoyed every minute of it. It was the relationship and chemistry between Poppy and Hawke that really kept me hooked.

I loved how this book made me smile, squeal and giggle. The conversations between the main characters are awesome, I love how they sometimes go on for quite a few pages without interruption! Made them feel so wholesome and real! 

For me personally, this is one of the best books JLA has written thus far - it's written in a much more mature way than many of her other books. 

Story-wise, I actually did see the plot twist coming quite early.

It might have been because I saw booktok hyping Casteel up, so I knew he couldn't be all that bad, but honestly I think even without that knowledge I would have caught on quite early, there were so many hints dropped! But anyway, I enjoyed how long it took Poppy to find out and all the heartbreak and devastation that came with it. Also, my angst on her finding out was REAL!

 

Oh and also: If you're looking for spice spice - this book is not for you!! I know booktok keeps telling us it is hella spicy but it really is not. Yes, there is tension, yes there is action, but only towards the end of the book and it's not THAT spicy!

Apart from that this book is a great read if you're looking for a romance with all the chemistry, slow-burn, a twist to the enemies-to-lovers-trope and next to that, an awesome fantasy world to delve into! 

Oh - and last but not least - really did not expect this book to essentially be about werewolves and vampires haha! Such a fun twist once I realized!
