I was thinking of rereading ACOTAR but as it turns out, I just needed another series with a similar vibe. I was intrigued with the story and the characters immediately and I finished the book remarkably fast. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series!

I went into this one extremely cold which made the plot twists very exciting - there were some predictable trope moments but I still thought they were satisfying. Once I started reading I could not put it down. And, as far as female protagonists go, the evolution of Poppy through this story has been one of my favorites; there were several moments where I would actually put the book down and say "Good for her" out loud. Can't wait to get the next book!

Oh they didn't lie when they say JLA is the new SJM! That book was wonderful, the plot and the intrigue starting on from the first pages, it's crazy good! The character development of Poppy is great although sometimes she's a bit frustrating. And the character of Hawke? Amazing

The world building is often dumped in chunks. I could not get into the FMC and by the end the love interest ticked me off. The pacing is off, it would speed up then stop for 50 pages. Still, an interesting concept and world.
