This was a strange read. On the one hand, I absolutely love Mistborn and I excitedly read every page. I would happily read even a mundane account of any of the Mistborn characters.
On the other hand, not much really happened. Kelsier wanders around the afterlife without really understanding much. He doesn't know what's happening which means that the readers are also lost. Basically, he wanders from one place to another, going from one strange person to another, one strange place he doesn't understand to another. It's all very confused, muddled and not an entertaining read.
I expected this book to give some background detail, but it didn't tell us much we didn't already know. Kelsier slowly discovers the nature of Ruin and Preservation, but that was already covered in Hero of Ages. There are some vague hints relating to other books, but I bought this book for its story, not a weak link to another story. It felt like a rehash of previous Mistborn books from a slightly different perspective.

Yah I'm not writing much about this. It's really cool, but impossible to not spoil.
I'm not even close to being as informed and knowledgeable about Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere as a LOT of people, but this is really satisfying.

Honestly, I feel like it makes a confusing world even more unnecessarily confusing.

I really enjoyed this novella all from Kelsiers POV throughout the era 1 mistborn books.
It was the best thing, in my opinion, to read after I had finished Bands of Mourning. It really helped add to the world building and some of the more cosmere related things going on.
