The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" by Washington Irving was first published in 1820!

In Tarry Town, New York there is a quiet glen know as Sleepy Hollow where spindly schoolmaster, Ichabod Crane arrives from Connecticut to teach the local children. He has hopes of marriage to the beautiful eighteen-year-old Katrina Van Tassel, daughter of a wealthy farmer.

Ichabod may have formidable competition from the town brute and bully, Abraham 'Brom Bones' Van Brunt, who already has plans for this vision of beauty!

The writing is nothing short of spectacular! It's beautifully descriptive, and fluidly poetic.

If I were a child, I would be mesmerized by the 'Headless Horseman' cover art and the anticipation of the scary premise.

Sekarang baca ulang setelah dewasa, aku tetap suka. Aku baru menyadari endingnya sebenarnya multitafsir.

Listening to this for the first time actually gave me more appreciation of Christina Henry’s Horseman, which was a reimagining.

Although this tale was beautifully told, I found myself needing more. And am grateful to all the films I’ve seen in addition to what I mentioned above; that have helped me have a greater understanding of this short story.

This was extremely underwhelming to read. I watched the Tim Burton adaptation, and the TV show (the first season at least), and remember liking both, so I thought I might enjoy this too... but I ended up being bored and a little confused, which is quite the feat considering how short this was. I didn't like the writing style, at all, it was too descriptive of random crap; it honestly felt like the author was trying to pad the story. The only interesting part happens at the end, when The Headless Horseman showed up... but even that was uninteresting
Spoilerand the author alluded to the fact that Icabod's rival just dressed up to scare him away, which isn't nearly as much fun as real ghosts
.

For a quick read, it’s not bad. It gives a little background into the movie on where the tail came from. Need a quick read, this is a perfect pick me up.
