Was excited to read this book but it fell short. Did not care for the open ending and found the book rather boring.

I give it a 3.5, its good, but it lost a lot of steam in the end. This book is very reminiscent of Rebecca, which is one of my all time favorites. The only reason it is not a 4 or 5 because, to me, the end didn't feel like it backed up all of the suspense and energy. Overall, though, I think it was a decent read and you should read it too!

I don’t know what I expected but this wasn’t it! This was a completely atmospheric story. What a stage Fuller sets! I wouldn’t say “thriller” though others have… more like an edgy historical fiction with a twist. It was a slow burner but then really seemed to pick up speed and intensity. I felt the novel more than read it. Beauty of a cover.

Trodde den skulle være skikkelig skummel, men den ble først litt spennende helt på slutten >:(

This novel reminded me of The Haunting Of Hill House - its isolation, the people brought together by a decrepit homestead that requires investigation.
Definitely a page-turner; there were several ominous threads moving at once. You know something terrible will happen - has happened - and you want to watch the events unfold but also hope it doesn’t end the way it’s doomed to end.

I need to process this one a bit. LOVED the twists. It felt a little like I spent most of the book waiting to figure out what the heck was going on, but the ending delivered. It’s a very different book, but the inadvertent was great, and the gray characters were compelling.
