Uhhhh not sure how to feel about this book. It was a nice quick story to get cleanse a pallet, but that’s about it. I liked the concept, didn’t prefer the writing. Also, half the book was porn and I wish we could have added more to the storyline. Lastly, I wished there was more of Archer’s POV.

Best book I’ve read so far this year! Read it within 24 hours!
This one is worth the hype. It’s sweet and emotional. The only reason it wasn’t a 5 star for me was it does get VERY sappy at times and comes off very naive
Emotional, exciting, but a little cheesy and predictable.
i had heard literally zero bad things about this book so i was excited only to discover that this is just glorified smut with random trauma that felt like it was just thrown in there for some semblance of a plot? and holy moly these two were so codependent i was staring at my screen like this
I kept on reading hoping it would get better. it didnt

Okay I understand why this has so many mixed opinions.
It basically goes from PTSD ridden girl who’s on her quest to find herself falls in love with the shy quiet (lol) boy who wants nothing to do with her. The romance is super cute and i ate it up. However the entire backstory revolving around her PTSD was basically deleted.
Literally i read it as if chapters and chapters were deleted. Like what happened when he left? did she grow stronger? did she cry everyday? she obviously stayed productive and cleaned… but like anything else? Why is the criminal on bail for an entire 3 months that her boy toys gone? Why does the criminal not make a move earlier? Why the criminal fully out??? Did no further contact happen after the call at the parade? there’s so many holes and honestly i think such an amazing story could’ve been written here if we actually had the whole story.
However the romance was unique, i’ve never read something with characters quite like this and it was a nice little 1 day read - palette cleanser. Because I finished it in a day it’s deserving of its rank. It captivated me and kept me going the entire time.
would i read this again? probably not. I’m not attached to the characters in anyway, their plot lines were short and sweet. the end was hit. But a solid 3.5-4 ⭐️

From the synopsis, I was expecting something significantly more robust from this book.
This book seems far less about the story of Archer, or the dynamics of the town, than it does about his and Bree’s sexual life. There were so many sex scenes that I started skipping over them, because they became redundant.
So much about the writing seemed unrealistic. It’s set in present-day (2016 when it first came out), but the characters act like it’s the mid-90’s in terms of technology. The way they utilize cell phones (or don’t) seems out of place with the times, their age/demographic, and the reasoning given isn’t overly strong.
Additionally, the two main characters are in their early 20s, but they talk and think with the wisened life experience of someone in their late 30s or early 40s. Not that 20-somethings don’t have maturity of thought, but the executive functioning parts of their brains are still developing! So in this case, that scientific fact, combined with the PTSD that both experienced from their respective traumas, and the fact that they just talk it through with each other in one conversation each, just feels a little unbelievable and misaligned. How was therapy not a component of this book?
Also, outside of the main characters, everyone else seems very shallow, predictable, and two-dimensional. They conveniently happen to appear or disappear when the author wants to move the plot forward, in ways that often made me roll my eyes and think, “okay, really?”
And while I get why the story is called Archer‘s Voice, there is some irony in the fact that the majority of the chapters are told from Bree’s perspective. I would have appreciated more chapters being told from his vantage point. He kept running the risk of becoming infantilized by having such a heavy focus on Bree’s point of view.
I wanted to get to the crux of Archer’s history, which is about all that kept me reading.
