I don’t know if I enjoyed this one or not. On one hand the love story and exploration of grief and connection beyond spoken word was beautiful but then it felt like I was never just happy for them? There was always a looming threat to Bree & Archer; be it Archer’s (valid) insecurities, Bree’s possible exhaustion of the situation (a few lines hinted at her possibly having cold feet and I’m here for a smooth ride so it annoyed me how quick she seemed to want to give up), Travis (dirtbag to the nth degree), fucking Victoria and even Bree’s dads killer . All of this just took the profoundness away from Bree & Archer’s love story because it felt so fragile before it even developed.
Not to mention the people of Pelion were getting on my nerves, how did you all have great sympathy & adoration for Alyssa (Archer’s mum) but never made an attempt to one get her out if that situation (easier said than done I know) or two reach out to Archer who was just SEVEN YEARS OLD when he lost both parents then was isolated by his uncle . I get Victoria may have been a scary woman but to ALL of them?? You didn’t think she can’t “punish/silence” the whole village??? and when they finally began to interact with Archer I was just so irritated, it took him getting shot at a SECOND TIME for those assholes to finally put in more effort than knocking on a door twice to start trying to communicate with him. dpmo.
Again beautiful love story but the other factors were just too present for me to enjoy it. Also I Bree You reminded me of I Wolf You from YOU.💀

2.5 generous stars. I'm left wondering why so many people are raving about this one... the love story felt quite juvenile & the sex scenes were just awkward. I've enjoyed other books by the author but this one was disappointing.
