“I want you. You’re mine, remember?”
“I’m broken, Walker.”
“Well, then all your beautifully broken pieces are mine.”

Beautifully Broken Pieces is a heartbreaking and an emotional romantic suspense story by Catherine Cowles set in the small town of Sutter Lake. This is my second book by Catherine and I am amazed by her ability to write an engaging and captivating romantic story about two heartbroken broken characters who found a home in each other and became each other's safe place.

I had some high expectations for this book and it was good and enjoyable but the characters' personality fell flat in my opinion. I loved them together but as individuals they were just not that intriguing to me. I just wanted to know more about their personality aside from their broken past but everything about their present is depicted and analysed from their traumatic and painful past.

“She needed someone who would never leave her. I could be that. I would be her friend, her constant shadow, her shoulder to cry on for as long as she wanted me. I would be more if she let me.”

Taylor and Walker are grieving the loss of their loved ones and blame themselves for it. So, when Walker met Taylor and saw that she was also hiding from her pain and nightmares, he decided to be there for her because he knew what it meant to be lost in pain and agony. He helped her to move on from her grief and forgive herself, he waited for her to talk about her pain and her emotions with him, he loved her and all her broken pieces and it was just so precious to watch them fall in love with each other's broken pieces while also trying to put them back together.

“You know I love you, right?”
She froze. “I know.” The words sounded so unbelievably tortured.
“To the depths of my soul. I’ll give you time, but don’t think I’m letting
you walk out of my life so easily.”

The romance was tender, sweet and emotional and I loved every aspect of it. Also, their healthy communication made everything much better. I was a bit bothered by the insta-lust/love trope at first, but the actual relationship development between Taylor and Walker was slow and steady. I loved how his family welcomed and accepted Taylor in their family and how they did not pressured her into anything but simply just waited for her to accept their love and care. The found family trope was so beautifully written in this book.

The suspense part of the story kept me hooked but it was obvious who was the real suspect and I was right in the end. I did not liked the extra drama in the end, it was just unnecessary. The ending was cute and adorable and there is no third-act breakup which was a relief.

Beautifully Broken Pieces is a great start to Sutter Lake series and I can't wait to meet all the couples and character's in this series.

I LOVED THIS. Omg walker Cole was just perfect the way he adapted to Taylor’s quirks and personality I was obsessed with them. I also loved how Taylor slowly started to open up to walker and his family even though her first instinct was to stay closed off. I will say this is the ONE AND ONLY book that has had a third act breakup that didn’t piss me off because it completely made sense.  I loved how it was a romantic suspense with a little more suspense than romance because of the slow burn. But the slow burn was the perfect pace I LOVED IT. Not my favorite book from this author but it’s still a great read.
