First of all, I’ll take one Matt for myself please and thanks. Talk about a man who falls first and falls harder. Absolutely loved him.
And Lane was such a complex but relatable character. I liked her journey through the book as well as the different examples of how people process their grief throughout the story.
A cute, funny, sad (but the good kind of sad), and all around enjoyable book. Hannah really knows how to put you in your feels with her writing.

I had mixed feelings about this one. I think it touched a nerve for me, having loved and lost a number of people in my life. I totally get her desire not to allow herself to be hurt again. And I loved their chemistry and how much of a golden retriever he is. But I was uncomfortable with the “be selfish” instruction. It was disingenuous bc he really wanted forever with her. And she knew that but ignored it so that she could get what she wanted. I do think a big part of her that she wasn’t acknowledging wanted forever from the beginning too, but it bugs me when people’s words and actions don’t align. However… I adored his family and truly appreciated how she took the time to heal and he supported that in the end. Life is messy. This book showed that. But it just made me how uncomfortable she was willing to break his heart for so long.
“If we were infinite beings, I wouldn’t worry about holding you like this every second I could. I’d know I’d get to do it again. The love I have for you is urgent. It’s a needy thing. Maybe it wouldn’t be if we had eternity. I’d get lazy with it.”

(2.5/5) I love Hannah bonam-young’s books, but this one fell short. I had the ick reading this, and I lowkey thought lane was a brat…

o enjoyed this book! Matt is so hot! Such a cinnamon roll, green flag of a man! The way he was done bad for Lane just warmed my heart 🥹 I loved how HBY showed both girls dealing with their guilt and pain of losing their father and how it showed up in their dating lives. Loved seeing the healing and the HEA. I loved the representation in HBY’s books. Also, I laughed so much throughout this book! Matt having his PhD will stay with me forever 😂
