I thought this book was well written and easy to read. Yet, I'm think there was not enough content for the length and some repitition.
It's written from three different perspectives. The three female main characters are so similar, that I sometimes got confused and wondered if they're actually the same and I'm reading about their experiences in different timeslines. They're not, they just have similar passions for ecology.
The book also iterates and iterates over the idea that pesticides are bad and predators are good, from an ecological perspective. At the end, I was thinking "Yeah, I got it the first three times you explained it to me."
There's also a lot of "women are driven by the moon and randomly want to mate once a month".
I loved [book:Demon Copperhead|60194162], but after this book I'm tempted to call it quites with Barbara Kingsolver. After reading the reviews here, I think I'll still give [book:The Poisonwood Bible|7244] are try though.

A lush, sensual novel about three characters in the mountains of SW VA whose lives intertwine one hot summer - another excellent Kingsolver novel! Read my full review at:
