I enjoy Barbara Kingsolver and I’m excited to read Demon Copperhead as I’ve heard it’s wonderful. This book was a nice calm read but a bit too predictable and perhaps because of my background in biology felt a little on the nose. The last chapter especially taking on the voice of the coyote was too much for me. I would still recommend it I suppose but not a “must read”.

This was beautifully written as most of her books are. And it was fun to watch how the individual characters got woven together just as the individual characters in the woods are interwoven. A bit plodding for my taste, but beautifully written.

Lovely writing. Every time one character's chapter would end, I wanted only to continue on with that thread of the story. But amid a vivid portrait of the natural world, still vibrant amid all the trespasses of humanity, she writes a tender and perceptive appreciation of the human relationships that form and fit between the shape of society.
