Rich, lush storytelling. Another of my very favorites. It's almost as good as eating chocolate cake.

I believe the reason I didn't read this book until now is that I didn't like the cover. But that was a mistake. I really enjoyed all of the storylines and the portraits of people that showed both their virtues and their flaws. The science that came across in the varied expertise of characters was interesting and it shed light on their personalities. What I found most interesting, as well as convincing and admirable, was the way in which characters formed (or depended on) relationships with people whose beliefs or personalities were so different from their own. I guess that particularly resonated in this election/post-election time.

I LOVED reading from these perspectives. In particular, my favorites were both of the female scientists because of the way they think. I also enjoyed reading the old couple dynamic. Kingsolver spotlighted the nerds with this book, and wrote them beautifully. The writing was immersive and descriptive, it was so easy to imagine where they were and even how the characters voices would sound. A very good read.

So good! Southern banter and humor is spot on.
