I am very surprise that this book does not get mentioned more when favorite audiobooks are mentioned. Kingsolver's writing style reminds me of Delia Owens in [b:Where the Crawdads Sing|36809135|Where the Crawdads Sing|Delia Owens|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1524102644s/36809135.jpg|58589364]. Both have such a rich way of writing that it makes me want to pause over many passages.

"She could see the fresh beginnings of yet another storm coming: the leaves of the tulip popular down by the barn trembling and rotating on a hundred different axes, like a tree full of pinwheels."

Prodigal Summer is one of those slow books that you just want to savor. There are no huge plots or story developments. Instead it is a beautifully written story about nature, neighbors, friendship, and family.

This book will definitely be one of my favorite audiobooks of 2019. The factor the author is also the narrator makes it even more special. Kingsolver does a beautiful job narrating. The bird and bug songs between chapters makes it even more rich and beautiful.

it felt a bit preachy in places, but i loved the stories. I was sad to reach the end.

It contained some content I didn't feel like I needed to read, so I didn't get very far...

She took me with her - to her cabin, to her solitude and left me there.
