Ticks all the boxes for me: beautifully written, well crafted story and characters, couldn't put it down, learned things, so much to discuss, feels so real, 100% would recommend to reader friends. Bookclub pick and a great one at that! It was even a re-read for me, though long enough ago I have forgotten most of what happened.
The descriptions of the natural setting in Appalachia were beautiful. If you liked Where the Crawdads Sing, you may like this, but it focuses less on reclusiveness and more on relationships and different peoples’ perceptions of the natural world, aging, and grief.
I really enjoyed this book. The characters were described in such detail to get the point across, but not bore me with their entire life history. I actually learned a bit about conservation of species and plants, flora and fauna if you will. All in all, a great book!

Loved the interweaving story! Following 3 protagonists, all smart, all connected somehow. A beaitiful tale filled with science, natural observations, and animal courtship and kinship. Would read over and over again.
If I could give this book six stars, I would. It may well be the best book I've ever read. I was hooked instantly, and loved every single page. Just wow is about all I can say at this point. I'll definitely be reading it again.
Read this book whenever you feel down on yourself or stagnant or pessimistic about life's prospects.
this book is beautiful and magical i pick it up every time i need a good nature book. There is so much to this book the characters are all so greatly written. And the different story lines for all the main characters flow so seamlessly. This book is just devine if you like a little nature and real life situations in your books this is your guy.
A fun, easy-to-read book that I couldn't put down and read all in one day, despite its length - 450 pages. Good characters, sex, nature... what else could you want? Definitely a good summer read, though better for the forest than for the beach.
