This is an incredibly fun and unusual take on a haunted house story. A teenager from a punk band goes into an abandoned house and never comes back out. When one of her friends and bandmates goes searching for her, he discovers she is trying to reunite the house with items and ghosts it has lost, but is the house going to let her go when she's done? The art is bright and bold and a lot of fun. I appreciated the different sort of take on a haunted house/runaway story.
I enjoyed this! The art, as you can see from the cover, is gorgeous, creepy, and moody. The story, about a high school girl living in the '90s who gets very...attached to a haunted house, was good, really creepy in parts, but a little uneven. The protagonist, Ami, has a back story that never gets explained, and I feel like it should have been dealt with within this arc, as the ending implies a new arc is coming next. It just made this feel a bit unfinished. Having said that, I probably make it sound like a bigger deal than it is; the story is still good, the relationship, the kinship really, that Ami develops with the house really sucked me in. The complex workings of the connection the two make just hit me in the feels, and then......well, shit happened, let's just say that, I don't wanna spoil anything. I hope at some point this arc gets revisited- I'd love to get a backstory on Ami (seriously, wtf happened to her family?), and get a history of the house and all the stuff that happened in it.
