Pleasant poems - “a bidding” was my favourite, filled with childhood magic and possibilities.

“I imagined a lot of things. That I would shine. That I'd be good. I'd dwell bareheaded on a summit turning a wheel that would turn the earth undetected, amongst the clouds, I would have some influence; be of some avail.”

Reading each chapter of this book felt like looking into someone's brain and trying to decipher old fragmented memories - I didn't fully understand a lot of them but I got the impression they were sacred nonetheless

‘And the image of the woolgatherers in that sleepy field drew me to sleep as well. And I wandered among them, through thistle and thorn, with no task more exceptional than to rescue a fleeting thought, as a tuft of wool, from the comb of the wind.’

beautifully written short stories centered around a certain time frame of Patti Smith’s childhood. Definitely sparked my inner child’s interest to hear others created such worlds within their own minds too.

Very interesting format and style, unfortunately I found myself easily lost. A nice short read between events tho

patti smith makes me sob with every sentence. lost is such a big motif in her books and it’s prevalent here as well.
