Amy Tector blew me away with this one.  The Honeybee Emeralds takes place in modern day Paris but it is full of history and mystery all based around a piece of jewelry.
You have a cast of quirky characters that muddle their way through finding the true history behind the Honeybee Emeralds while making lifelong friendships. The fact there were a few Lord of the Rings references to describe their antics completely sold me.
Lameece Issaq does a phenomenal job bringing each character to life all while nailing multiple accents. I fully intend on purchasing this one once it releases- its cover is to die for!
Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for this ALC in exchange for my honest review!

Alice Ahmadi, an intern at ex-pat magazine Bonjour Paris finds a necklace in the pocket of an exquisite jacket in the basement while hunting for the furnace room with the magazine’s aloof yet handsome next door neighbour Alexandre (a perfumer). And so the mystery begins, Alice and Alexandre joining forces with an impressive cast of characters who all have a stake in the magazine, and the necklace. Of particular note, Lily and Daphne, old friends who’ve drifted apart but for whom this quest provides an opportunity to reconcile, or perhaps to examine old wounds. Luc (*swoon*) and Jacob (meh) also figure prominently and certainly help the women along, but it the story truly belongs to Alice, Lily and Daphne. Strong nodes of DaVinci Code and National Treasure - esque historical treasure hunts, lots of primary source research (!!) and of course, French food, sights and mannerisms. This is a beautiful debut that you won't be able to put down.
