I did enjoy reading this book more then the actual book if that makes sense and Yhh… these are my thoughts.

I’d say I didn’t really like main plot twist and much after the fact about the dogs (all I’ll say) and the characters I couldn’t really connect with or like all that much. But with these ups and downs they are portrayed as real I guess. The writing style was good, some parts I didn’t like that much tho.

What I did like was the pacing I feel, it’s very fast but also only details a rather short timespan. It is very readable, relatively easy to understand and I feel it would be quick to get through - I finished it in less than 2 days which is very unlike me. The plot twist I didn’t see coming and how Lockhart does this storytelling is good and you’re constantly trying to figure out what’s going on and then when you discover the truth you relate it to past events and Yhh it helps your brain ticking.

As far as the actual plot… we follow our protagonist Cadence who is part of ‘the Liars’ alongside Mirren (her cousin), Johnny (cousin from a different aunt) and Gat (Johnny’s ‘stepdad’s’ sister’s son and her love interest) who meet on the family island every summer and just have fun kinda. Basically, an incident (her accident she calls it) occurs during summer fifteen which she doesn’t remember, she returns to the island two years later and tries to piece together what actually happened. All I’ll say cause I don’t want to spoil anything.

Overall, I enjoyed reading this and flew through it, the twists were ehh-ish but makes you think. I didn’t really like the characters that much but Yhh… solid 4 stars ⭐️

book was meh. the story was just like… honestly i don’t even know how to review this cause i can’t remember how i felt reading the start of it or anything that’s how mid it was. the end was just so confusing like why?! the ending was just like so random idk just wasn’t the best. if the book was maybe longer and the author explored the story more and made the “twist” much more exciting?! it would have been much better but it was a good quick read so there’s that.

It follows the character of Cadence Sinclair Eastman and how her family has affected her as a person. It's very hard to explain in simple terms what this book is about without spoiling anything because it's kind of all over the place. The characters aren't loveable and I don't really connect with any of them, to me Cady was just a girl who didn't understand her privilege and whilst I get that just because you have money doesn't mean you have a good life, I still don't think that's an excuse for the way she acts in this book. I thought Gat was quite an interesting character but there wasn't much too him and I think that could have been explored a bit more. I sort of guessed the ending in the middle of the book which kind of made it a bit boring to read towards the end. I did quite like the style that the book was written in, as it was fast-paced for me but I could still understand what was happening. There is character development to an extent, as the reasons why characters are the way they are, are sort of explained towards the end. I don't think I'd recommend this book to anyone but if you've got it on your TBR list then I think you should give it a go.

I don't think this book is something to sing home about. However, I didn't neccessiarly enjoy what was being said but how it was said. I enjoyed lockhart's descriptions in this and i found it a fast read and didn't want to put it down. Despite that i don't believe it's worth all of the but i did enjoy it nonetheless.
