Not my favorite because I find vampires creepy though I do like Stefan. I don't trust Stefan but he is entertaining. It would be interesting to see a short story focused on him.

In this book Mercy has to deal with a rogue, demon possessed vampire and somehow survive the encounter.  Mercy found out that walkers like herself are so rare because vampires basically hunted them out of existence centuries ago.  Now she is tasked with using her skills that she didn't know were important to catch this vampire that is causing a ton of deaths in her territory.  Add in the fact that the ex-love of her life, Samuel has decided to stick around, and pack alpha Adam has also staked his claim.

I am enjoying this series. I like the heroine and her non-traditional profession and her independence.

A darker turn

The first book in this series was a relatively playful even with death and undertones of violence. This is a much darker entry and also more religious basis showing through. The vampire society is greater shown and examined and we learn more about Mercy's powers.

Second in her Mercy Thompson series, Mercy is asked to help by a vampire friend, her abilities to shapeshift and her immunity to vampire magic being what they need. Only they are facing a sorcerer turned vampire that spreads evil through the Tri-city area.
