I was worried this book was over hyped but I actually really enjoyed it! Felt very much like a travel/beach read, so was perfect for the trip I’m on.

I also wasn’t expecting such a heavy topic for a booktok read. I went into it reading it purely so I could read it before the movie came out without reading any summaries, so that was a little bit jarring.

I appreciated Hoover’s willingness to take on such a serious topic in a form that makes it accessible to a wide range of readers.

I feel like every negative reviewer has never experienced an abusive relationship. While the book was somewhat cheesy, yet engaging, I felt the heaviness more than anything. I’ve never related more to the experience of simultaneously loving and hating your abuser and not knowing how to process.
