The King of Crows was sadly a disappointing conclusion to the series. The majority was just boring and the ending felt rushed.

(As a side note - I'm still in shock that I actually liked Jericho in this one)

I'd give this finale a 4.5/5 as it was not a perfect finale, but it still was a suitable one for this series and after reading it and sitting with it for a while I grew to appreciate it and its wonderful atmosphere. I'm glad I read this series! I love the characters! I cried when certain people died and loved that a certain poc character is the one to save the day in the end. It was wonderful, not perfect, but wonderful.

As much as I've enjoyed this series as a work of historical fiction I think this is an incredibly important series in a time when white supremacy has risen and an autocrat looks to upend our Constitution.
I hope this series finds its way into the hands of young people and their teachers. We need more stories that remind us that being good and decent can be hard and that following orders isn't always right.
