I liked it but I wish Kacen Callender had saved these characters for a full length novel

this was a cozy novella and it discussed the intersectionality between race, sexuality, and gender with such care. i could definitely relate to the racist and homophobic small town filled with mostly white people, and it felt very authentic.

Kacen is so good, man. They managed to make me feel all the feels in less than 3 hours of listening. I love the little twist at the end and how much Charlie and Jack care about and respect each other.

This was so good. I felt seen so many times in this book. My only sadness was that we didn't get any steam described. Overall, it was a nice, quick read. Loved the trans and BIPOC rep here. I felt like Charlie's fears about relationships all seemed extremely realistic.

I'm sad this book was so short!!! I thought it was cute, the story of coming back to the town you grew up with as a new you, a better you, the real you. It's scary and somehow finding love. So cute! I loved this.
