I was excited by the premise of this book, as it’s a period of history that interests me and the concept sounded good. However, I was disappointed by the slow progression of the plot and the looking sense that all would not end well. In the end I wasn’t sufficiently engaged to continue reading - too gloomy for me
It’s been so long since I’ve cried this hard after reading a book. I wept clutching my chest, knowing in my heart this couldn’t end well. But god, the tears of relief and joy I felt on the last page. I’ll never forget the morning I spent reading the last hundred pages of this book.
