This book was both depressing and hopeful. Depressing simply because it highlights how prevalent misinformation has become. Hopeful in that there are (sometimes) ways to combat it

This subject matter and findings of Ariely’s work were interesting, but I don’t think that this worked in execution. His writing style wasn’t for me and I think this read too much like a textbook. I will give him points for ensuring that there was a lot of grace, compassion and curiosity for what he calls misbelievers, a reminder we can all use regarding people who we don’t understand.

Fantastic. This book gives a foundational understanding of why we are ALL susceptible to the influences that lead some people to misbelieve. Not only does he provide understanding of the social, economic and personality influences, but he also provides very helpful information about HOW to resist these influences and to keep ourselves and our loved ones from slipping down the funnel of misbelief. I highly, highly recommend this book.
