Had I somehow not known who the author of Zero Days was, I may not have guessed correctly!
Ruth Ware's newest release is unlike any of her previous thrillers. Though it still hooked me like her others.

I tend to think of Ware's thrillers as being atmospheric, having multiple characters, often locked-room - Zero Days is not those, but rather full of action and intrigue with one main character.
Spouses Jacinta "Jack" Cross and Gabe Medway are "pen" specialists - they test the physical and digital strengths and weaknesses of security systems. When Gabe is found brutally murdered at home, Jack is on her own not only to try to find the killer, but to evade capture herself.
It took me awhile to get into this story, despite the strong opening. But by the halfway point, the character of Jack had grown on me and there were some twists I hadn't anticipated.
Recommended!
