I enjoyed this gritty thriller.  It's great to see a heroine who is very capable of solving her own problems, including being suspected of the murder of her husband.

This wasn't for me. It's for you if you want to read a walking simulator. A woman runs from the police for 95% of the book and I feel bad saying it, but it was real boring. It felt like Ware needed to write something Hollywood-viable so we got lady Jason Bourne without Matt Damon charm. I don't know! If you like heisty action movies, you'll like this! But I don't and didn't. I only go below three stars if I feel actively mad at a book and there's nothing to be mad at here, so three it is.

The setup was really intriguing, but somewhere along the line, I think this book got a bit muddled. Not super pleased with the ending

(too wrapped up in a tidy bow for me)

and I wish I’d connected more with Jack. Realizing about 75% through the book that she’s 27 was a shock tbh, first because she has had so many experiences and has such great knowledge and tenacity and second because she was so naïve. Probably wouldn’t recommend, but it wasn’t horrible.
