I love Rebecca's books, they are just so warm and comforting. Brogan & London were cute, had a lot of chemistry and such a fun meetcute!

I listened to this as an audiobook, and though I really enjoy audiobooks, I simply cannot enjoy my books in the same way as a physical book. However, these characters were sweet and I liked the romance. It didn't give me a whole lot more than that, but to be fair that's not what I was looking for in this book anyway. I would recommend as a palette cleanser.

Story of Brogan & London.

I am so surprised by how much I enjoyed this. I just decided to listen cuz the audiobook was duet and Jacob Morgan. I loved the female narrator too. I was surprised how charming brogan was and I genuinely laughed and giggled. I thought I’d be bored bc of how basic the plot line is but I truly had a good time and that Ian sometimes all I neeeedd. I wanted to read more of this authors stuff with the other characters but they all seem to be college setting and I’m too old to enjoy those properly lol

3.5 rounded down.

This book had a really strong start. I thought this was a high school romance which i was quickly proven false but there was immaculate tension and a draw between the characters which made it entertaining. However I think once the characters actually started dating and getting together it sort of lost its charm which obviously isnt what you want in a romance book. The spice scenes were terrible like genuinely so bad which meant that none of that good tension lead to anything so that's disappointing. Also even though the characters were pulled towards each other, they didnt have chemistry? So their conversations were very bland and they felt so boring. It was just like reading some hot people get together but they don't really have any brain cells.

The side characters were okay even though I wasn't convinced by the 'reformed playboy oh but hes soo caring bc he was abandoned by his parents but im not gonna show you im just gonna tell you' style of MMC. The MFC was fine, just a blank state to carry the story through so not really anything to be offended by about her. This book did have quite a lot of OW/OM drama which was not my favourite. Kissing just to prove something to your ex is not the way i want my main characters to have that first moment.

I think this book is unnecessary being 450 pages long. Like the first half was great (I wish they stayed communicating through letters for a bit longer though) but then it started going into this lost sister storyline that i had no interest in. I'd prefer it if it just stayed a story about found family rather than having this weird aspect that had no real payoff (apart from probably being a character in the next book it seems like). This also led to this semi third act breakup because the characters were giving each other space. I usually complain about this resolving too late before the book ends but with this it was the opposite. They reunited but I didnt feel anything about it, the 3/4 chapters of them as a couple after were just boring. I think it was just the length of the book that made it an issue because there wasn't anything novel to write about. A lot of the chapters were just characters standing around talking about nothing of importance that didn't seem to move along the plot or establish anything at all.

However despite this I really did enjoy the start so even though im being critical about a lot of the core things in the book, it did bring me entertainment.

I’m completely obsessed with London and Brogan! This book is pure feel-good romance...funny, swoony, and full of heart. If you love stories that make you smile, giggle, and kick your feet, Playbook is the one. The reverse grumpy x sunshine dynamic is one of my favorites, and these two nailed it. From their hilarious first meeting to their fake dating antics and all the tender, vulnerable moments in between, their connection felt so real. Brogan’s support, vulnerability, and London’s steady presence made their connection feel so real and heart-melting. I adored every second!!! 😍
