Mad Girl is an autobiography of Bryony Gordon’s experiences of OCD, depression, bulimia, alopecia and drug dependency.

This book is funny and often sad, mainly because I sometimes recognised myself in Bryony as I read this. I am glad that Bryony decided to no longer keep silent about her illness and to write a book about it. It allows people to realise that they are not a alone and that actually this is more normal than people realise.

One of my favourite parts of this book was her honesty. She confesses that writing Mad Girl made her very ill and that her illness is very much up and down but that things are getting better and that she has now found a way to help her i.e. CBT treatment etc. It shows the realness of how difficult mental health is. She made it real.

I would recommend this book to everyone and the topic is something that needs to be more talked about. I cannot wait to read more books written by her.

I love Bryony Gordon. I love how honest, open and raw she is. There is humour in this book which helps when things are so heavy. Must read.

“Even little things that make you happy are important, because the more of them you have in your life, the better your wellbeing”. After listening to her podcast, I knew I had to read her book! It’s a chatty, honest and hilarious read. A topic that is so relevant right now, mental health and a topic incredibly close to my heart. I found this book very relatable and it’s so important. It’s powerful, inspiring and I loved it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “I’m telling you this because sometimes there isn’t a reason for mental illness. There isn’t one at all”.

Could not put this down, what an absolutely brave book to write. This was so honest and so daring. Such an intriguing and honest insight it is comforting to know that you are not alone in your strange thought processes that you would not admit to yourself let alone anyone else.
