I feel like I shouldn't have had to read 50% of this book to finally get to some emotional connections between the characters...
I thought I was really going to like this one but it was just okay. I also thought Not In Love was only OK so I guess this tracks but I was expecting something with a lot more emotions and drama but it was pretty boring to be completely honest.
I'd say about half of the book doesn't even happen in the present and there's a lot of telling rather than showing. I was also expecting something different from the age-gap aspect. I felt like it was going to be fun and sexy but instead it was things like Conor calling Maya "childish", assuming she was still 13 when she was 20, and just a lot of infantilism. It was honestly so awkward at some moments that I was visibly cringing.
I also didn't care for any of the side characters. Most of them were from Not In Love and I didn't care for them there either so that's not totally surprising, but I do think there could've been more emotional and impactful moments between the main characters and side characters during this story to make the reader care about those characters and relationships. I think the godmother part was the only part that added any more of an emotional connection and it was kind of the bare minimum at that point.
Overall, it was fine but underwhelming.

Fun audio book but actually never got the love tension I think it's mostly because they both were already in love without saying it at the beginning rather starting with their meeting.
