I liked it. Strong ideas and interesting characters with a good plot, but a lot of this book felt like a slog to get through. It wasn't because it was badly written, but just because for a long time the story is stuck in a rut and going over the same ground repeatedly. It is a smart way of making the point and conlusion that comes towards the end, but I think anyone who is familiar with the ideas will see much of it a long way off and start despairing when it never gets to the point. I have huge respect for the author and what he has made with this trilogy, but it was not a page turner for me although I was very interested in the ideas.

For me the best book was the second book, Children of Ruin, which I often find myself thinking about and would even consider reading again. That book had me completely hooked, and overall this trilogy is very much worth reading and tackles interesting concepts and aliens.

I'm not sure I really want a fourth book in this series (I probably would read it), but I very much would love more books from Tchaikovsky with interesting alien worlds, creatures and ideas.

I think this was such a cool and different concept for the 3rd book of this series. I loved that all of them connected,  but in a way that all of them were so very different. Hope there will be more of this series
