about 2 weeks ago in language arts we were learning about the holocaust, but I still couldnt understand what truly was going on. I mean I did know some things, but I didnt know the pain and sorrow people went through. I feel like I was just taught that the Germans had it so easy, but this book shows me it's not the case. This book was amazing, it feels so real, that sometimes I forget this happened decades ago. Everything about this book is great it gives you the perspective of a family who wanted to help the jews and they did that by letting a man named max stay in their home. That is where this book becomes so sad. Ive never seen such a beautiful relationship among 2 characters. The book lets you know Max is going to be taken away so it just makes it so much sadder. And then when Liesel and Rudy realize that they hate Hitler, its just so powerful. And when their dads are taken to war it makes them hate the fuhrer even more. The ending of this book was so clever, and it made me realize why the narrator was death. This book is by far the best thing ive read so far.
