Gray's Star Wars books have been hit or miss for me (I loved Lost Stars, but thought Bloodline was a bit dull), but you had better believe I am here for a novel about teenage Leia dealing with princess duties, finding her first love, and getting involved in the Rebellion. Yesssssss. I especially enjoyed seeing a lot of Leia's mother-- Bail Organa has been a big prescence in the series, but I appreciated a Star Wars property looking at a mother-daughter relationship for a change. Plus the Luna Lovegood-esque friend was pretty great. So, yesssss. A-/B+.

This book was amazing!
As a big Star Wars fan, it was great and so interesting to see what Leia's life was like before 'A New Hope'.

This might be my favorite new canon book. It is for sure the awesome Leia story I have been waiting for since I was probably 9 or 10 years old. I devoured it in a few hours. Total page turner. I loved getting to know Bail and Breha, seeing Leia’s relationship with Mon Mothma develop, and learning more about Alderaan and the early rebellion. Also I love AMILYN in this book. Finally Leia has a friend and she’s great! The best part of the book was just how well Claudia Gray gets the GFFA and gets Leia. Truly we are blessed to live in a time where Claudia Gray writes for Star Wars 🙏🏻

Dang this was good. Coming of age tale about young Leia, ties in a long standing friendship with Amilyn Holdo, so if you've watched the new movie or plan to, definitely some interesting backstory on that character.
