Excellent. Beautiful writing and an engaging, interesting, entertaining story. In particular, Buck's heroics pulling the thousand-pound sled were very moving. Great book. Will read more of London's books soon.

The actual writing is talented, and reminds me of the old books I would read as a kid. Definitely dated though, it makes an uncomfortable read when it comes to women and literally any other race, even down to the name of a dog. It also felt like less of a dogs perspective and more of a man who thinks he's an alpha wolf. If Jack London was alive this day, he would be a wolf fursona for sure.

This book reminds me of [b:Black Beauty|3685|Black Beauty|Anna Sewell|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1578265482l/3685._SY75_.jpg|4639714] (one of my favourites) in the way it shows man's capability of cruelty and kindness through an animal's eyes. Buck starts out as a prideful dog, king of his domain at Judge Miller's. He is then snatched away to become a sled dog and learns to live under the Law of Club and Fang. The Yukon is a harsh environment; every day is a struggle for survival. Yet through it all, Buck's spirit remains strong. His gradual regression into a wild animal is well written.

A short and enjoyable story that is sad at times.
