I'm not really a fan of this book. It feels like it was written for boys. Trying to the final things I relate to is hard. Other than general struggle of the main character to kind his place after being taken from his home, there's nothing I really liked about the character development or the plot progression. Overall I found it to be depressing and unrelatable.

Really depressing at times and energizing in other moments. Showcasing the depth of human cruelty and stupidity and maybe the superiority of Nature, but also the importance of nurture

Absorbing read, a tribute to wilderness and nature; also, a true manifestation of environmental determination. Buck’s atavism, willingness, and ability to return to his primordial being, though it seems uncivilized, is the definition of civilization at best.

i can't believe i read a book about the world through a dog's eyes and i liked it

i had to read white fang in the seventh grade and i still wonder why i was made to read it

but i'm getting distracted this book was good

the duality of man ft. dogs & returning to primal instincts etc. etc.

A grim, violent, but ultimately heart-warming tale of a heroic dog.

This is an excellently-written novella by a skilled author who is able to use setting, imagery, symbolism, and varied prose style to explore different themes and convey the mood and temperament of different characters.

The language transports you right into the cold, mountainous landscapes of the Yukon (where much of the book takes place), while the messages about returning to nature, the bond between man and dog, man’s cruelty, nature vs nurture, and domestication vs the wild, is a joy to read.

The character development of Buck, the dog protagonist, was also very well done.

I highly recommend this book to readers of any genre.

I did not expect to get emotional while reading this book! But I did even though it moves quickly I was shocked at how well the author managed to make you care about the characters. He really captured what happens to humans when met with survival.
