After sort-of enjoying the Hating Game, I decided to give Sally Thorne one more chance.

That was a mistake.

What is this book? It's some sort of bizarre stream of consciousness... thing... narrated by a spoiled and drunk on her own privilege 20-something named Darcy. As a main character, Darcy is extremely hard to like. There are flashes of her being a "badass", but they are fleeting, and you're left with a petulant child with a military haircut and nipple piercing.

went in with really high expectations but the first half of the book was disappointing, i didn’t quite like the writing and felt like it was all over the place but the last half of the book made up for it so it’s okay lol

The Mmc just annoyed me especially at the end because the conflict was so unnecessary. It was cute but I found that the mmc always sided with the brother and the disability representation was good but could be so much better

It was… okay. Definitely a lot of cringe mixed in. I might need a break from romance.

I absolutely loved this book! I love Darcy and I love Tom so much. The whole idea of fixing up a house and of course the friends to lovers trope and not to forget twins. Love it all!

This was a cute little story. Often there's a reckless woman and a steady man who "saves" her, and although they both play those roles, Tom is not really out to save Darcy.

It's amazing how interesting this book can be when it's basically about how he's remodeling/flipping her grandma's house. Sexual tension ensues the entire time. Mildly amusing.

One thing I found a little odd, was the book opens with Darcy working at the bar, laying on her sassy self. This was the preview scene in the Hating Game that I read. Then--this bar is never visited again, besides Darcy mentioning that "she has a shift at the bar"--it's almost like this was almost going to be the scene of the book but switched gears.

Also, I'm not totally on the flipping house scheme, but why on earth is Tom staying at the house he's flipping? Is this normal? Of course...how else can there be sexual tension if they aren't around each other with alone time.
