Fascinating. Engaginly written (my hats off to the translator).

I have two comments about this book. I picked it up mostly because the description seemed so out of what I expected of the time period. This books goes pretty deep into the history of the church and the various factions within, I personally would have preferred to have a little less information about the minutiae of Catholicism in the 1800's.
The scandal itself is pretty well covered considering the difficulties in finding source material.

Who does not like a story of murderous lesbian nuns?
Sex, Murder and scandal in a historic account of a nunnery that turned into a cult in what seems to be half Manson family half witch trail. The writing is a bit dull in parts and I found myself getting lost in some of the formal names and since it is based on the testimony of the people invovled it repeats the same points a couple of times but an interesting read none the less.

This was an interesting story for sure, but I did find the writing to be a little more dense and academic than I prefer.
