DNF @ 60%
I may just not be in the mood for this story but the second that the MMC and FMC got nasty my interest in this book plummeted.

It has all the making of a dashing and steamy pirate romance novel but for some reason the second the tension broke between the two MCs I lost immediate interest. Plus some of the twists and reveals early on were predictable but absolutely pointed to a third act break up and I’m just not in the mood.

The main character has the emotional maturity of a pre-teen. She blames Knigh for her suffering, but it's actually all because she can't handle real feelings, so she lies to create distance between them, and when he asks again to confirm, she doubles down.

What does she expect? That a naval officer won't do his job of capturing a self-proclaimed murdering pirate? This girl is delusional.

Will try one more book to check for character growth.

It's very silly but I love it I feel like it doesn't take itself too serious which feels very nice

I almost mood DNF this book, but on a Sunday morning, I decided to push through and finish. And now I’m sucked in. Of course.

I always get so anxious with the lying by omission trope, because I know the fallout is going to be a disaster. But while I wanted to hit Knigh upside the head with a stick when it took him so long to figure out Vice’s identity, I’m glad he was willing to sacrifice everything to save her. I was also pleased that the end wasn’t a massive cliffhanger.

I think my mood just wasn’t in the right place for the majority of this book. Overall, I loved the story, but I think I’m going to wait a beat to continue with the series.
