What the heck.
I got this in stuff your kindle day and after my last picks expected it to be a similar dud, but oh how I was wrong.

I was going to deduct a star but the reason had nothing to do with the writing or plot. It’s a naming issue

I had seen some reviews say this was the darkest they've ever read, but I didn't feel that it is as dark as some that I have read. It definitely is a dark romance, and read the trigger warnings before reading. If you are looking for a lot of spice, this book has quality over quantity. You're going to get some hot scenes, but they are limited. I liked it so much I jumped into book 2 as soon as I finished this one!

I can't remember the last time I read a book that fast! The story starts off strong, and never lets up. The cliffhanger is a doozy and I am so glad book 2 is already out because I would have lost my mind not having it to go into right away. The Lords of Darkness all harness their own unique trait or power and when it comes time to intiate Harlow into their world as a Lady, they each have a unique way with her, but she's still not quite ready for their world. She's mouthy, and keeps them guessing. The Cat and mouse aspect is so far my favorite part of this series.

This wasn’t as dark as I was expecting from the author’s note but it was much too short. I really loved learning about the Lords and their history and Harlow definitely has her hands full with the guys.

I really really enjoyed this. The second one isn't out for a few days, which is sad! But I'm looking forwards to it.

The big issue that prevented it being a five star book was the lack of understanding of British culture. These are four sexy men, but they are not nobility. Nothing about their characters points to nobility.

Also, Sterling asked if she had made him Mince and Mash. Like is was some famous English dish. I'm assuming she was referencing shepherds pie or something, but that and Gideon paid in and English pub with an AmEx card, which is accepted in England very rarely. It's the small things like that, that knocked me out of the story and made it funny.

It really is a fun read though. Just not culturally accurate.

Wow, I did not see that coming, and the suspense has left me speechless. That cliffhanger? I am glad we don't have to wait long for Lady of Darkness.

dark emotional

Holy moly! That cliffhanger! Goddammit! I need book two right now!
I loved Harlow, her conflicting feelings for the Lords, her confusion with her own feelings, her reluctantly to let them in - she's so perfectly stubborn and strong willed.
These men are controlling, possessive and unhinged and I love them all.
Her little nicknames for them all make me die, Murder Puppy is my favourite! Trouble sounds like he's going to be so much fun in book 2, Billionaire Daddy is swoooooon-worthy and Mr Grumpy has my heart already.

The plot is good, but the writing is so bad. I really wish this book was written by someone else cause it has so much potential!
