This was definitely out of my comfort zone and not something I would normally pick up. It felt a little too literary for my personal taste, and I almost DNF'd it at the halfway point because I was so bored with Pear and was dreading continuing the book. However, after a short break, I continued reading and the last half of the book sucked me back in! I loved the constant change in format (especially the chapter about the tweets) and the dark twisted humor. Plus both Jamar and Ezra had me emotional at the end with their stories. I'm really glad I ended up finishing this.
The initial disclosure was too real, and very affecting. I was personally disappointed that it felt more like satire towards the end, though this did help make some of the more disturbing content more digestible

Tamblyn’s poetic prose and unique handling of perspective pull you into this search for a serial female rapist. Authorities call her Maude, and she has been targeting men of all walks of life for years. It’s infuriating to see society’s dismissal of victims’ pain while everyone remains intrigued by Maude’s persona and the grotesque scenes she leaves in her wake. Despite having less than 300 pages, it won’t be a quick read as you may have to step away at times.

I finished this book within 2 reading sessions in the span of 24 hours. This could be because Amber Tamblyn writes such poetic prose and the clever mix of writing styles made reading easy, or it could be because the subject matter was so grotesque and giving me nightmares that I wanted to get it over with. I do not recommend reading this while nursing and cuddling your baby boy. This book is fucking complex and heavy as hell. It was beautifully written but disgusting and disturbing most of all. I almost didn't finish it and I won't recommend it just at the risk of harming anyone psychologically.
